About the BBC Scotland Cricket Club

Welcome to the BBC Scotland CC website. The club was founded in 2008 by members of staff at BBC Scotland after several years of one-off summer matches. It is affiliated to Clydesdale Cricket Club and plays its home ties at Titwood in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

In its short life the club has grown to include freelancers and staff from other media organisations, doctors, disaffected former accountants, and even a McDonald's manager.

The club has been promoted through the divisions of the Western District Cricket Union Evening League and in 2012 will be playing in the WDCU Glasgow Evening League Division 2

The club motto, Shite Takes Wickets, should in no way lull teams into a false sense of security. This is a team that collectively watches Any Given Sunday, Field of Dreams, Chariots of Fire, Major League I AND 2, and Mighty Ducks for motivation (often all in the same night) and on our day can be the match of any team in the Evening League.

We welcome all teams to join us for a drink after our home games and if you would like to join the club, please email the club secretary Alan Lawson. Tell us about yourself and your cricketing experience (none necessarily required, btw).

If you are simply a fan of cricket and would like to support us, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter or better still check out our fixtures and come see us play at Titwood.
