We are delighted to welcome Paul Tucker to the BBC Scotland Cricket Club. Paul, known to his students as The Inspector, is said to be delighted at the transfer from the now defunct Glasgow Biologists. "I thought the signing fee was larger," explained Tucker, "turns out it was lager. But its hard to turn down a pint in the company of Peter Mellis." We hope it will be the first of many.

Last year’s Player of the Season took a record number of wickets in a season and added several useful knocks. Like Andrew Strauss, Condi just needs to survive the first over, but he seems to be improving year on year. What more can we expect in 2012?
